Money for this was fought for and won by the former Board from regional budgets to the tune of $450,000. This is what the benefit of experience is all about; knowing how to make sure Waiheke gets as much as possible: in this case, bringing the project from near the bottom of the regional priority list, to near the top. God knows we pay enough rates to get some benefit from the Supercity.
All that remains for this new Board to do is approve the details. Let’s hope they don’t renege on it just because it was something achieved by the former Board, an all too familiar trait of this Board over the past eight months.
The Council officer’s recommendation is for renewal of the netball court lights and to install the new sand carpet and lights on the sports field at Ostend Domain in this next financial year 2015/2016. Let’s hope Board members don’t try and take the credit for another achievement that was not of their doing. (see the projects won by the former Board under the background tab on this website)
