This is my personal blog. I started writing blogs as part of my engagement with the community when I was Deputy Chair of the first Waiheke Local Board. I've been writing them daily ever since, except for the off holiday break. My motivation for continuing is the woeful coverage of Local Board and Auckland Council issues in the local media.
I blog on issues affecting Waiheke but also on anything I find interesting. This is mostly politics, but also quite a bit on current affairs, national and global issues, and what’s new in technology. If you don’t like what I have to say then don’t read the blog,
In the interest of full disclosure, I give the following information.
I self identify as a classical liberal, which the Institute for Liberal Values of New Zealand succinctly summarises as a belief in individual rights, limited government, private property, free markets, tolerance, and reason.
On the political compass test I score +2.75 (slightly right) on economic issues and -2.92 (libertarian) on authoritarian issues.
I have no political affiliations, nor have I ever had.
Other matters which may (or may not) be of interest.
I attended a Methodist Sunday School until I was 10 and was confirmed in the Anglican Church in my late twenties. By mid-thirties I was a confirmed Humanist and have remained so ever since.
I am a lesbian. I have been married twice - to men.
