The elites in the United Kingdom and the USA weren’t worried at the beginning of 2016. They ‘knew’ they could manipulate the people to persuade them that the unelected bureaucrats of Brussels and the powerful families controlling both the Republican and Democrat parties in the USA were more than a match for any upstarts. They started getting a little nervous when Farage and Trump seemed to be making some headway but, hey, the polls told them they didn’t stand a chance, so no need to panic.
It goes to show how little the elites understood the ordinary man in the street, so removed had they become from the concerns of the people they are supposed to represent. They had no inkling of the unspoken fury of the silent majority who had been stifled by political correctness, robbed of jobs by illegal migrants, and told their own culture didn’t matter in the push towards globalisation.
Well they know now. The groundswell of anger against the unelected bureaucrats ruling the European Union, that no Brit had ever been asked if they wanted to join, erupted into a ‘Leave’ vote. Brits take their freedoms seriously, even if their politicians don’t. They don’t like being ruled by those they haven’t elected and they don’t like being told what is and isn’t ‘for their own good’. They are more than capable of making those decisions for themselves and from now on they will.
The Brexit vote doubtless gave the ordinary folk in the USA heart. Just as Nigel Farage had led the resistance in the UK, the Americans found a champion in Donald Trump. Here was a man who could break the mould constricting democracy in America. The people lapped up his victories, because they were their victories.
The Brexit vote and Trump presidency mark a turning point in history. The post-war socialist consensus is at an end. The Franco-German hegemony over Europe will not survive without the economic power house of Britain to prop it up. While nation states re-assert themselves in Europe over the next decades Britain has a head start in making free trade deals with the world, something prevented by the EU, which is a protectionist, anti-trade, bloc.
More far-reaching will be the Trump presidency. He had already dealt a death blow to politically correctness and the environmentalists by appointing climate change sceptics to the EPA. The push towards heavily subsidised, unsustainable, wind and solar by the EPA was destroying the environment, and leading ordinary folk into fuel poverty. The Climate Change industry has already been faltering but now it will fail completely. It will do so first and foremost because it is not based on sound science, but, without the buy-in of the USA, expensive ‘Green’ energy will be destroyed by market forces. Prosperity will return to the world and the Greens, who have turned into an anti-human, Malthusian force, will fade into oblivion.
The social change brought about by the events of 2016 will be equally profound. Social media will destroy the remnants of mainstream media that has shown itself to be little more than the lapdog of the political elites. Politically correct state funded media like the BBC and TVNZ are out of touch and inconsequential in the face of competition from on-line media.
It will take some time for the far-reaching consequences of the new dawn of freedom to reach the distant shores of New Zealand. Here we are still gripped by political correctness. The expansion of race-based unelected elites being handed political power continues unabated through what has become the National (Socialist) Party of New Zealand. Democratic freedoms are eroded daily without report from mainstream media. Moves are afoot to force a race-based constitution on New Zealand. There are a few opposing such moves at present but I expect resistance will grow through organisations like Hobson's Pledge.
Despite the dark clouds gathering over New Zealand the world is a freer, more democratic place than when 2016 began. Hope for humanity has returned now that the Green monster is being forced to retreat into its lair. A new era of free trade between nations is dawning. Prosperity will return. Humanity will thrive.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
