LEN LOOSENS RATEPAYER PURSE STRINGS AT PARISIAN CLIMATE CHANGE JAUNT
Tuesday, 15 March 2016
The Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance is labelling Mayor Len Brown’s 6-page report from his $27,000 trip to the Paris Climate Change Conference a waste of ratepayers’ money.
Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson, Carmel Claridge, says:
“Spending $27,000 on a trip to a conference on climate change in Paris looks to be more about having a last hurrah on ratepayers rather than delivering for the people of Auckland.”
“Ratepayers will be horrified to learn that Len Brown appears to have unilaterally signed up Auckland to an international agreement, while Aucklanders remain in the dark about any potential costs.”
"Auckland Council should not be expecting ratepayers to be funding another lot of meddling in matters that are already being dealt with by central government."
“Auckland deserves better than a high spending Mayor jaunting off overseas making captain’s calls on our behalf.”
What is particularly ironic in this foray into the discredited climate change scam is the long standing evidence that intensified cities create localised urban heat islands that contribute to localised climate warming by about 30%.
Yet here is Brown claiming he believes in the ‘climate change’ religion and wants to ‘do something about it’, yet at the same time he wants to contribute 30% to local climate warming by ‘intensifying’ Auckland’s green, leafy suburbs and turning them into a concrete jungle.
