Here are some useful ways to help your neighbours and stop this fraud.
- If you have not received your voting papers advise Election Services straight away: they might have been stolen
- Voting papers belonging to off-island ratepayers, or those away from the island, may still be in their letterboxes. You can watch out for your neighbour by taking photographs of letterboxes containing uncollected voting papers. This is happening in several Waiheke locations. If the papers are removed suddenly without your neighbour returning to the property then they have probably been stolen. This should be reported to the Election Services immediately
- If multiple voting papers arrive in one box for addressees who do not live there advise Election Services immediately
- Watch out for your neighbour to avoid voting fraud particularly in the last few days of the election before voting closes.
