I read Liam Dann’s article in the Herald about the fall in oil prices with growing amusement. It was good news all the way, yet he managed to deliver each piece of this delicious happy cake as though it was going to stick in his throat. It was all written with such unsuitable horror that I began to wonder if the poor man isn’t the Grinch. He’s certainly one of the whinging Green misanthropes who gets enjoyment out of being miserable. You see, the poor fool has bought into the shock horror of the Big Green Lie. It used to be called Global Warming but, seeing as there’s been no GW for 18 years now, it’s become Climate Change instead.
Shock horror #1. Petrol prices at the pump are falling. You’d think he’d be pleased there is some relief for motorists world wide from the artificially, OPEC inflated, oil price.
Shock horror #2. US production of oil is going through the roof. Isn’t this fantastic news? Despite all the merchants of gloom and doom in the in the Green Party and global environmental catastrophisers predicting ‘peak’ oil by 2005 the world is awash with the stuff 10 years on.
Shock horror #3. It’s all the fault of fracking. It’s only the Greens who are upset with this extraction method. It’s been around for eons. It’s releasing the West from their dependence on Arab oil. Arabs use their vast cartel profits to prop up Muslim fundamental terrorists. What’s to dislike about fracking?
Shock horror #4. He feels guilty because we are all ‘are going to be reaping the benefit of fracked oil - regardless of how guilty we might feel about the environmental hypocrisy.” Who is the environmental hypocrite? Not me, mate. I love my car and am not afraid to say so.
Shock horror #5. The New Zealand economy will benefit from a boost to export earning because of the fall in the NZ to US$ exchange rate. Yep, he even manages to sound unhappy about that. “Lower oil prices are a mixed blessing for New Zealand. There is upside in anything that gets the US economy humming. A rising greenback will see our currency fall in relative terms, boosting export earnings.” Jeez, is the man never happy.
Shock horror #6. What about the impending global warming catastrophe? “You needn't be a hardcore greenie to see that this latest fossil fuel surge will cost us - or our children - eventually. You just have to read the science.” Oh if only you would read the science Mr Dann. There’s been no global warming for 18 years now and it's really quite wicked to suggest otherwise. It’s just one BIG FAT LIE and you’ve fallen for it along with most of mainstream media (MSM).
Shock Horror #7. OMG there’s a risk of undermining ‘green’ technologies. That’s the best news of the lot, you idiot. Green technologies have been bankrupting nations for decades. Adopting wind and solar power has all but finished off the Eurozone. Wind and solar power are massively expensive to install; require monumental subsidies to operate and JUST DON’T DELIVER the goods. If the world can now concentrate its efforts into technologies that are productive for the consumer, that the consumer can afford, and that enhance the environment without bankrupting economies then it’s good news all the way.
Here’s some advice. Stop being Desperate Dann and become Dann Dare. Dare to be happy at the excellent news that oil prices are falling. Make merry, pop the champagne corks, fill up your gas guzzlers and celebrate the GOOD NEWS for tomorrow we LIVE.
