Coastguard is more than $20,000 better off thanks to the generosity of the Waiheke community. Wai Wai Productions-Raewyn Neilson, Sarah Williams and Marg Graydon otherwise known as the Wai Wai Girls, had the bright idea of staging a rerun of the hit 1960's TV show C'mon as a fund raiser for Waiheke Coastguard.
Last night's show proved a great hit. C'mon stars Ray Woolf, Shane, Tom Sharplin and Suzanne Lynch gave freely of their talents to entertain a full house at Te Huruhi School Hall. There was dancing in the aisles as the stars proved they've still got that C'mon appeal.
Money was raised through admission, a charity auction hosted by Chris Reeve with prizes donated by many local businesses plus bar sales. Other donations included ferry transport, food provided by local suppliers and wine from local vineyards.
The Wai Wai Girls with Coastguard volunteers hosted the stars by providing accommodation, sightseeing transport and a substantial champagne breakfast.
The show was an expression of community spirit that is the true heart of the Island.
