The north side is bearing the brunt of the storm. A trip to Onetangi nearly resulted in me losing a few fingers as a gust wrenched the car door from my grip. On the way I saw trees down in fields, branches ripped from their trunks, and a gum tree left leaning against its neighbours. Even as I write the wind seems to be gathering its second (or third) breath outside.
The latest service update from Fullers at 1.20 this afternoon
Service Update - Wednesday 9 July 1.20pm - With continued adverse weather conditions forecast, services to Birkenhead, NCP, Bayswater and Stanley Bay have been cancelled for the remainder of the afternoon and evening. Services to Devonport and HMB will continue to operate at this stage. Waiheke Island services are operating as usual but will not be stopping at Devonport until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Batten down the hatches. It looks like we’re in for another wild night.
