There are no heroes, he opines. Tavares is youthfully exuberant, naïve maybe, in many of his messages – he is after all the chief campaigner locally for the Green party, but on this occasion he is not only ignorant, he is downright insulting to the entire Kiwi nation, a nation which sacrificed a generation of young men in the name of freedom, a freedom ironically which enables fools like Tavares to spout his bilge.
They were heroes, every one of them, and nothing, not even the ignorance of a cocky, little Aussie who had to leave his homeland in order to find an audience mildly tolerant of his garbage, can ever diminish the tremendous value we put upon those who gave their lives that we might live as we do today. Had Hitler won the war we would live in a very different world. Certainly it would be unlikely that people like Tavares would be able to speak their mind without fear of swift and final reprisals.
He would do well to remember that next time he slags off those who died to give him the freedom he has. They should be his heroes.
