Before Cyclone Pam gets going in earnest here is a reminder of Waiheke at its best. Jackrakino has sent me this video of this year’s event.
This year’s Onetangi Beach Races (now over 100 years old) were as good as ever, despite the high tide meaning the races did not start until well past noon. In my opinion the Sealegs races are the highlight of the day, and there were plenty of competitors. The usual stalls were selling food and drinks, and the cafes were doing a roaring trade. It is a highlight of the year on Waiheke Island bringing huge numbers of tourists from all over New Zealand and the world.
Several commentators have asked me to publish their blogs on my site. The blogs on this page are not my own nor do they necessarily reflect my views. However, I do believe there is a need for a place where differing voices to those allowed in the local media can be expressed.
